Sometimes you are reminded that you did good...

#6 - I HAVE MOVED ON...

Received a rather surprising phone call this morning! From my ex-stepson (it's complicated and too long a story!) Just asking if I was still alive? How the boys are? And updating me on their lives. Now this is the first call I got from him in more than 5 years. And I haven't seen him or his family in more than 7 years. Made me wonder what triggered it? Made me also realize that although we move on in life, we do make footprints in other people's lives...even if we don't know about it! (or sometimes we just block it out?) The girls are all grown up (13 & 11) and the last time I saw them they hadn't even gone to school yet! I wonder if I would recognize them if I had to meet them in the street? It's sad, I know...made me sad in the past...because they were my first "grand children" ... I was very fond of them...And now I don't even know what they look like anymore! :(

Nobody said that life is easy...we experience things and not always know why they happen, but if we are honest with ourselves, and open minded, we can always learn from everything that happens in our lives. The good, the bad and the ugly...

These experiences make us grateful for the good things that happen to us, even if we refuse to recognize them at the time...eventually the penny drops and we shake our heads in amazement that we have been so "blind" to the lessons contained in them.

But I am grateful that life has gone on...new people have entered my life and made me smile. I am also grateful that I did make some footprints on the heart of my stepson and that he has remembered me...even if it took so many years to pick up the phone and call! Thank you Mark for reminding me that I did contribute positively to your life!

QUOTE OF THE DAY - You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself 'I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.' You must do the thing you think you cannot do. -Eleanor Roosevelt
